Dr. Jeong Sang (David) Yi, Ph.D.

Jeong Sang (David) was born in Seoul, South Korea, but grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2005 he acquired BS degree in Biology and Organic Chemistry at University of Massachusetts, Amherst. David moved back to home Korea to fulfill his military duties. There he also pursued his PhD degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Byung-Gee Kim at Seoul National University. His PhD research was focused on metabolic engineering of branched chain amino acid metabolism for production of various secondary metabolites in Streptomyces bacteria. David joined the Moore Lab in October 2018 to explore and study biosynthesis of natural products in marine and cave origin Streptomyces species.
